And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be glory for ever and ever, Amen.
2 Timothy 4:18
God, it’s me… where were you?
Where were you as tears violently stormed down my cheeks?
When the shackles of shame held me bound?
How about the time when darkness hovered closely over me, I could feel its breath?
Have you ever wondered where God was?
It has taken me over a decade to ask this question. I didn’t think it was appropriate to ask. In fact, I believed it was disrespectful.
See, I grew up in a household where you didn’t question authority. You did what you were told. I believed the same about God. If I can be quite honest, I was terrified to ask because I had no idea what the response would be.
After listening to an episode of Java with Juli, a podcast I listen to frequently and hearing the story of Hetti Brittaz, I was encouraged to ask.
As I hurried south on I-75 to my part time job ( within speed limits of course), I asked the question I had been afraid to ask all my Christian life.
I asked… “God where were you?”
His response… “I was protecting your soul.”
Immediately my conservative speed of 70 dropped to what was more than likely less than the minimum. I was completely undone. I must have repeated those words to myself until my engine turned off… “I was protecting your soul.”
Oh, how He loves me.
Oh, how He loves you.
Oh, how He loves us.
We don’t have to be afraid to ask our Heavenly Father anything.
Go ahead, be bold… ask Him.
