The Greatest Gift

As we celebrate this holiday season, may we be reminded of the greatest gift given to us and the greatest gift available to us all.

JESUS

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Many of us woke up this morning to open gifts or to watch our children open gifts… how proud we must have looked as wrapping paper rapidly piled on the floor and sounds of joy and excitement filled the house.

Take a minute to think of God, the giver of all gifts. Think of what He must have been thinking, knowing that his only son would be born with a bounty on his head.

I imagine he was proud, yet his heart filled with great sorrow.

Could you imagine… your boy, your only son being born for the sole purpose to save others? To resurrect life from the dead, heal the sick, bring sight to the blind, and make the broken whole?

Love… unconditional love.

The gift of Jesus can be unwrapped every single day. It’s not a gift that is to be set under a Christmas tree for one time of the year, but it’s a gift intended to be shared with others all year long.

It cannot be compared to opening a gift to only place on the shelf because you’re no longer intrigued by it, this gift… the gift of Jesus remains intriguing and becomes more and more intriguing as you commit to unwrapping it daily.

Whether you received all you asked for or not, there is still one more gift left to be unwrapped. This Christmas receive the gift that trumps every gift… the gift to know Jesus and to spend eternity with him.

My hope is that you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

Merry Christmas!
